muba is Switzerland’s biggest and oldest consumer trade fair, where every year hundreds of exhibitors present their products and services. MCH Group (Messe Schweiz) and Mobile Event Guide created the “muba 2014 app” in order to engage an audience that was increasingly younger and more tech savvy. We were tasked with creating a clear overview of all exhibitors and their products, to integrate social media and coupons, and help attendees to effectively learn about all of the relevant offerings.
Exclusive coupons for different services at the booth gave exhibitors the opportunity to use the app to more precisely target the event’s visitors. The integration of social media made it easier for the attendees to share the content within the app as well as to raise broad awareness about the event.
Discover new exhibitors and products easily
More than 1400 products were presented at muba, along with 622 exhibitors who attended the event. Using the product search and the category filter, the visitors were able to quickly find relevant information and create their own personal agenda for the event. The interactive maps helped users to navigate through all halls and booths. The app’s “one-click solution” allowed users to easily move from the exhibitor’s detail page to their location on the interactive map.
Targeted marketing through mobile advertisement
In addition to the company presentation in the exhibitors profiles, the companies had the opportunity to book one of the exclusive ad spots in the app. One example was the splash screen, which was shown to users more than 17.000 times after starting the app.
Fast data transfer of all updated information
All trade show data including maps and exhibitors information were saved on the device of the user and were available offline at any time. Through an interface to the database of MCH Group created by Mobile Event Guide the data was automatically transferred into the app.
